The Watch List

A perpetually expanding Project

Christopher Nolan

Batman Begins

Dolt: Not as good as people make it out to be, feels very rushed.

Demdy: It's good.

Green: Im racking my brain to even be able to remember enough of it to say anything.

Kamen: Overrated beyond belief, way too damn long, but fine. A nice set up to what comes next but not much more.

Tactical: First half is great, second half is fairly boring. Weak Villains.

Dolt: Very entertaining, peak mindgames.

Demdy: It's good.

Green: Bit of a slow start then ramps up quite well for a twisty end.

Tactical: Fantastic movie, strong message against obsession.

Dolt: Just a plain old good movie, with good characters and themes. An incredibly complete experience. #GangWeed

Demdy: Very difficult to have a joker as good as Heath's

Green: Greatest Batman movie ever, not even the gloriousness that is Baneposting can top this.

Kamen: One of the only Super Hero movies that actually feels like it was a perfect blend of comics and being a real movie. Also the Joker lives in a society.

Tactical: Very good movie, much better then the first. Perhaps too dark. Similarly weak second half. It's too long. But very enjoyable regardless.

Inception Poster

Dolt: Probably one of the best movies I've ever seen.

Demdy: It wobbled.

Green: How dare you, I was gonna say "it wobbled".

Kamen: I've seen it when it came out, and two years ago. Both times I felt the same: It was alright.

TalentL<ss: How dare you not have genuine discussion. Solid movie, I really liked the concept. But it didn't need to be played up so much. It was alright. 7/10.

Konrad: It was alright. I enjoyed it much more when I was younger.

Tactical: One of my favorite Nolan movies. The fight scene in the hotel is one of the coolest shots in modern cinema. Hit me harder this time than any of my other viewings.

The Dark Knight Rises Poster

Dolt: In spite of all its flaws and inconsistencies its a movie I cannot help but enjoy.

Demdy: We both know that I have to review this now. You'll just have to imagine the rating.

Green: It's a great movie, for you.

Kamen: It's an ok movie overshadowed by what came before. Still a good movie, but what was that voice Bane?

Konrad: The Dark Knight Rises wobbled a little bit.

TalentL<ss: Overall good movie - Shouldn't have been Bane, it should have been Hush. Both Batman and Bane have goofy voices.

Tactical: Not my favorite, but I enjoyed it this time. All the batman movies falter in the second half. Bane is both the best and worst part. Exceptionally quotable.

Dolt: Probably the only film to make me cry four separate times during its runtime.

Demdy: It's a family movie and I'm a family man.

Green: I'm not crying, you're crying.

TalentL<ss: Better than Tenet but I still like Tenet more, excellent movie.

Kamen: I loved the movie when I first watched it, however I think I need to rewatch it to understand it better. But still a fantastic movie

Tactical: If 2001 is all intellect, this movie is all heart. I don't know what it is, but I feel this movie unlike most other movies; I cried in the theater, I cry at home.

Dunkirk Poster

Dolt: Cool movie with good sound design. 0/10 dubious christian bale involvement

Demdy: 81/81 aspect ratio changes for the stressful music alone.

Green: Poor Gibson...

Konrad: Found it hard to keep track of the different stories happening but was still cool I guess. it wobbled too much.

Kamen: It's probably one of the only war movies I actually cared to sit through. And I think it was way too well acted, but that's a good thing.

Tactical: Not my favorite Nolan film, but the man doesn't miss. A masterclass in tension. Incredible sound design.

Tenet Poster

Dolt: .kcartdnuos doog a htiw eivom doog yreV .levart emit od ot yaw tnegilletni ,looc yllaeR

Demdy: .01/01 saw ievom eht tub wollof ot ylbbow saw noisrevni

Green: My head's all screwy dewy dudes, and my tummy doesn't feel good.

TalentL<ss: The best nolan movie the best soundtrack the best pacing.

Tactical: This is by far the best Nolan movie. Exceptional concept - exceptional execution. Palindromes scare me.

Following Poster

Dolt: This movie is clearly stealing from Christopher Nolan.

Demdy: "It felt like a really good TV movie - Tact"... Yeah I'll take that for the review.

Green: I didn't care too much for it. Dont' appreciate messing with people's lives.

Tactical: 28 years old, $6,000, a year to film? I'm impressed. It felt like a really good TV movie.

Memento Poster

Dolt: watched this movie while high, kept forgetting what happened while I was watching it, added another narrative layer. cool movie.

Demdy: a bit hazy, a bit wobbly, what'll happen isn't remembered.

Green: do you remember? cuz i 'member.

NWO: this movie is like dropping the needle randomly on the record over and over, Or maybe like record scratching and playing over and over. .

Tactical: Painful movie. You are what you remember. Strong message against resentment. Who is the villain, Teddy or Lenny

Dolt: Not my favorite nolan film, not my least favorite. Al and the other guy carried the movie.

Demdy: 1st and only chronological movie of his/10. (editor's note: he means Christopher Nolan)

Green: Good movie but robin williams's part was hard to watch knowing about his manic depression, also pacino didnt mean to do it

Frog Like: This movie could not have been done without Al Pacino and Robin Williams. They handled the material in a way that really elevated it. Solid movie - made me feel like I'd gone a week without sleep.

Konrad: I came in like 4/5th of the way in, but it was good.

Tactical: Good movie. A little slow. Great acting. Strong message about guilt and shame. Will didn't mean to do it, even if he doesn't know it anymore.

Iconic Sci-Fi

Alien Poster

Dolt: Tfw no space trucker gf to save cats from aliens with. feelsbadman.

Demdy: Despite everyone agreeing on toasting the alien, no one toasted it. Curious.

Green: Good movie, for like the five minutes I saw.

Frog Like: Alien is a classic, even now almost 45 years later I still felt fear. It foreshadows well, eludes to hidden agendas in between the dialogue, & uses it's sets and creatures to represent allegories beyond the scope of the film. Grade A!

Sunshine: Very Good movie.

Tactical: This movie is so iconic it inspired 50% of all scifi that came after it. Ridley Scott made two of the most enduring scifi movies of all time. This movie traumatized me as a kid.

Dolt: I enjoyed this film a lot, definitely stronger back half for me. Atmosphere of the first is still better though.

Demdy: They used the flame throwers to good effect, substantial improvement from the first.

Green: USER WAS BANNED FOR THIS REVIEW.
Rule 1 violation.

Konrad: Yeah it was good. (editor's note: he saw the last 20 minutes.)

Tactical: This movie inspired the other 50% of sci-fi. It's like 70% Halo. Good movie.

Dolt: Very easy to see why Terminator became as big of a thing as it did. Acknowledgement to the works of Harlan Ellison.

Demdy: Hey wouldn't it be funny if we found out about kyle reese being his dad and just took him out before he goes back to become his dad? Do we have a grandfather paradox? How do time traveler babies work?

Green: Animatronic Arnold didnt have to die like that.

Konrad: Enjoyed it a lot. image.png

Tactical: Not as good as I remember, but still pretty good. Really enjoyed the special effects. Unnecessary necessary sex scene, minus ten points.

Dolt: A very good sequel. They actually had to kill Arnold in real life for that last scene.

Demdy: [following the part where sarah describes the terminator as the perfect father figure for john] wasn't john talking about how sarah was the one who blew it with the mechanic guy that she liked by telling him about her son being the resistance leader???

Green: Arnold didnt have to die like that.

NWO: Terminator is father.

Phil: I was going to write a review right now, but I'll be back.

Tactical: It's James Cameron's best movie*. And it's one of the best action movies ever made.

*I have not seen all of James Cameron's movies.

Dolt: The predator, unsurprisingly, carried this movie. Definitely one of the best film monsters I've ever seen. Everything else about the film is unremarkable to me, even the culturally significant parts.

Demdy: I'm gonna miss my homie Blain. Can't keep a T-rex down.

Green: He did it. He finally got to the choppah.

NWO: Good indeed. It's amazing to see that even an alien species can be so prideful.

Konrad: Great film movie, could've used another choppa.

Tactical: One of the best monster movies ever made. With some of the best monster prosthetics next to The Thing. This movie just proves that no matter how advanced a creature, you can still kill it with a rock.

Dolt: Enjoyed way more than I thought I would. I miss toxic waste :(

Demdy: Insufficient use of science girl, 8/10

Green: My boy ED did nothing wrong

Radier: Let'ss go I get a review!!

Konrad: Enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would.

Frog Like: "Nice shooting, what's your name kid?"

"RoboCop"

Tactical: RoboCop is a great movie, much better than it appears to be on the surface. Surprisingly touching.

Dolt: Good and fun movie. I don't hold it in as high regards as others do, it lacks a little depth and has some clunky acting imo. Cool factor overrides all in the end.

Demdy: How can a sentient program smell? Breddy gud otherwise

Green: My head canon is that keanu is still in Bill and Ted and this is just the trip from him getting really high

Sunshine: Iconic

Konrad: Favourite part was when he said I need your boots, your clothes and your motorcycle.

Frog Like: - Review Pending -

Tactical: The Matrix is one of those movies where it might be the hokiest, or the greatest, movie ever made depending on your viewing. This change can happen while watching it. I haven't learned how to control this phenomenon.

Dolt: Any individual aspect of the film alone would have made it a classic, but the effects and acting and pacing together make it beyond classic.

Demdy: But who was phone?

Green: Man I cant believe they made among us into a movie (USER WAS BANNED FOR THIS REVIEW)

Radier: Had me on the edge of my seat.

Tactical: Great movie - fantastically executes on its concept. One of the best scifi / monster movies around.

Dolt:

S Tier: Alien

A Tier: RoboCop, The Thing

B Tier: Terminator, Aliens, Matrix

C Tier: Terminator 2

D Tier: Predator

Demdy:

S Tier: Alien, The Thing, The Matrix

A Tier: RoboCop, Aliens, The Terminator

B Tier: Predator, Terminator 2

Tactical:

S Tier: RoboCop, The Thing, Alien

A Tier: The Matrix, Terminator 2, Aliens

B Tier: Predator

C Tier: The Terminator

Westerns

Dolt: I miss Westerns. I like that the protagonists are barely any better than the antagonists.

Demdy: There's something about that kind of moustache that can't be replicated. I don't know why you know, but you just know. 9/10 I love me some yeehaw. Lunger best bro.

Green: Every man needs a verbose alcoholic best friend with 60% of his lungs remaining.

Konrad: Who up tombing their stone???

Frog Like: If you were to take the dialogue of any of the characters out of context, you'd still know it was tombstone. The pacing might be odd, the acting over the top, and a strangeness to the small details, but most of it fits the western, and damn did they do a fine job.

Tactical: One of the best Westerns around, despite having an infamously bad production. This movie is infinitely quotable.

Dolt: Good movie, a little heavy handed at times, as all good westerns are. really appreciated the small details.

Demdy: You know, that Irishman could've avoided all of this if he'd just fenced his ranch in instead of gettin uppity bout some cowboys.

Green: Bit slow to get into it but speeds up really fast for an amazing fight and ending.

Tactical: This is probably my favorite Western. It makes me sad, angry, and happy.

Dolt: - Review Pending -

Demdy: All this lack of molestation has dirty harry's panties all in a bunch

Green: Only reason he carries a 44 is because hes too wimp to handle the fuddy five.

Tactical: - Review Pending -

Dolt: - Review Pending -

Demdy: So who dredged that badge back out of the lake?

Green: So was it good cop bad cop, good cop good cop, or bad cop bad cop?

Tactical: Murdering criminals? Bad. Killing them in 'self defense'? Good!...
I like this movie. It's not the greatest, but I like it a lot.

Tom Cruise

Dolt: Feels like a window into the past, with all of good and fun parts and all of the cheesy and ignorant parts too. RIP my boy Goose.

Demdy: sailor boys in a bar? hitting on women? immersion lost.

Tactical: Movies lack this warmth these days. Top Gun has a little bit of everything, some might say it's a 'perfect movie' in that regard. Feels like a Shounen Tournament Arc condensed into two hours.

Dolt: Better than the first in every way, I wish it did not have a single stupid scene, otherwise great

NWO: All of the fun of the first one, in a bonus package!

Morley: The movie captures the spirit of its predecessor and brings it to a modern audience. Would reccomend.

Tactical: This movie is an American anime, and you can't change my mind.

Dolt: Robbie is irredeemably retarded.

Demdy: The good elements of this movie are completely dragged down by stupidity and goofiness.

The Lady: The movie was too bogged down in interpersonal conflict, I stopped caring about the kids. I just wanted to see him deal with the aliens.

Tactical: It's about the only disaster movie I actually like. I feel like it captures the feeling of desperation well. I totally understand the criticism though.
